A new day for change.

All right. As I had disclaimed previously, I knew I would never update this blog. But now I feel like, if America can elect Barack Obama to the presidency, I can blog a bit more regularly.

Things have been going swimmingly and now they're slightly rocky. There are some "technicalities" that piss me off a bit and I'm kinda feeling like I'm in a rut. But things have to get better, right? That's what change is all about. Not dealing me all the shitty cards, but eventually getting those pocket aces.

This election has been an amazing ride for myself as an American and a voter. When Palin was chosen as McCain's vice-presidential pick, I got really scared. She may be a woman, but she's not a woman that I'm necessarily proud of as a woman. Everything about her screams old, conservative ideals that would put women's issues and gains on the backburner and back in time. It was scary, and now, at least for four years, she's not a factor.

Obama is an amazing man. There was a quote from some student overseas that said "He had an Asian childhood, African parentage and has a Middle Eastern name. He is a truly global president." That's so true. The fact that the world can get excited at the prospect of not hating us anymore makes me proud. Not only do all those attributes make Obama a global president, it makes him an American president. This is a man who came from nothing--a single mom, two loving grandparents and worked hard to make a name for himself. This president should not be classified by race or name, but by his abilities to lead and make a difference in the world.

May God bless President Elect Barack Obama and Vice-President Elect Joe Biden.
